WARHAMMER 40,000 - Titans: Tyranids by Daniel Crocker

Hi, welcome to the third in the Titan series of new rules for 40k. This article deals with the frightening Tyranid BioTitans, the worst that the Hivemind can throw at the Imperium.

Codex: Tyranid BioTitans

BioTitan Special Rules
BioTitans follow all the special rules for normal titans as well as the following additions.

  • BioTitans have the ability to regenerate wounds. At the start of the 'Nid player's turn roll a D6, a weapon can be regenerated on a roll of 4+, if the titan is immobilized, the leg can be repaired on a roll of 5+. You may only attempt to regenerate one location per turn, which must be stated before the roll. For every time the titan has failed to repair a location, the dice roll needed for that location is one higher. a roll of 6 is always an automatic success.

  • BioTitans are synapse creatures.

  • They have the power of the Hivemind within them and are immune to psychic powers.

  • Whenever a BioTitan is destroyed, is spouts out an acidic spray, this counts as a flame weapon was the following profile:

  • Spore Mines Spore Mines are deployed by the titan in an attempt to soften-up enemies before destroying them in Close-Combat. 2D6 spore mines may be fired 2D6 inches and then move 2D6" each turn in a random direction until they pass within 2" of a non-Tyranid organism. They then explode. Spore mines may only be used once.

    • Poison Always wound on a 4+. Poison mines only affect vehicles which are open topped, against which they inflict a glancing hit automatically.

    • Frag See Ranged Weapons Summary.

    • Bio Acid Use the scatter die to get a direction for the flamer template. On a hit, the template is placed towards the closest model. Acid Spore Minds roll 2D6+3 for armour penetration on vehicles.

  • Extended Carapace Adds +2 to armour value.

  • Adrenal Glands Adrenal Glands give the Bio Titan +2 WS and +1 I.

  • Enhanced Senses These add +2 to the Titan's BS.

  • Toxin Sacs Toxin Sacs add +2 S to the Bio Titan equipped with them.

  • Implant Attack Creature inflicts double wounds in close combat.

  • Bio-Plasma Attack Creature gets an extra close combat attack that hits on a roll of 4+ with the creature's strength plus one, worked at double the creature's initiative.

  • Titan Close Combat Weapon - Doubles strength, ignores armour saves.

  • Razor Claws - Razor Claws ignore armour saves and roll 2D6 for Armour Penetration.

  • Ripper Tentacles - Reduce enemy attacks by 1.
